IDENTIFICATION CRITERIA

When evaluating potential partners from any source, Care Convention Network Uganda applies consistent criteria:

  • Mission Alignment: Organization’s work addresses one or more of our core focus areas (health, education, environment, poverty alleviation, community care) and demonstrates commitment to building Uganda’s culture of giving.
  • Local Leadership: Organization is Ugandan-led with deep understanding of community context and demonstrates accountability to beneficiaries
  • Values Alignment: Organization embodies Uganda Cares principles including transparency, inclusivity, collaboration over competition, community ownership, and respect for beneficiary dignity.
  • Growth Potential: Organization demonstrates capacity and desire to learn, improve organizational health, and scale impact responsibly.
  • Community Trust: Organization has established credibility within the communities it serves, evidenced by community participation, beneficiary testimonials, and local stakeholder endorsement.
  • Organizational Health: Basic systems are in place or organization demonstrates willingness to develop systems for financial management, safeguarding, governance, and program quality.
  • Impact Evidence: Organization can articulate its theory of change and provide some evidence (even informal) of positive outcomes for beneficiaries.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Organization demonstrates willingness to participate in Uganda Cares community, share learning, and work collaboratively with peer organizations rather than viewing philanthropy as zero-sum competition.

REFERRAL PROCESS

Organizations or individuals wishing to refer potential partners to Care Convention Network Uganda should contact:

Referral submissions should include:
  • Organization name and contact information
  • Brief description of their work and impact
  • Approximate organizational budget and maturity stage
  • Why the referrer believes this organization would be a good fit for Uganda Cares
  • Referrer’s relationship to the organization

All referrals are reviewed by our partnerships team with decisions typically communicated within 30 days. Organizations meeting initial criteria are invited to participate in Uganda Cares activities (Convention, Communities of Practice, training programs) before formal partnership discussions begin, allowing mutual assessment of fit and alignment.
